Message from the Chair

“The Committee would like to thank all the dedicated students, teachers, mentors, parents, friends and sponsors who make FIRST Robotics a reality. It would not be possible without your dedicated support. Your gracious professionalism, passion for the competition and dedication to the Vision and Mission of FIRST will be realized as we build the High Tech Workforce of the Future."

Chris Fairey
Orlando FIRST Robotics (FRC) Committee Chair.

About Orlando FIRST:

Our mission is to development the Florida’s future high tech work force.

Florida FIRST Robotics (FRC) Competition started in 1999 with 28 teams at the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Center. After four years of growth, the decision was made to move to the University Of Central Florida Arena in 2003. The 2011 Regional had 59 teams. In previous years there were teams from Canada and Great Britain. The event has become an international favorite.

Due to Miami beginning their Regional debut next year, we will be changing our name to the Orlando Regional.

Florida FIRST continues to grow in all of the FIRST programs (JFLL, FLL, FTC and FRC). All of these programs provide a means of growth in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) that is age-appropriate for the students involved. In addition, FIRST programs provide a natural progression for students interested in these areas so JFLL and FLL teams can serve as "farm teams" for FTC and FRC as students move into higher grades. This is being accomplished by a dedicated group of volunteers--parents, teachers, friends, engineers--who spend many hours each year to make FIRST a reality for all of the students. And what is particularly gratifying is to see that some of these active volunteers and role models were previously members of FIRST teams themselves who have gone on to study STEM subjects and have come back to help younger students. Without this level of participation, FIRST could not grow the way it has and the way it intends to in the future.
